About Me

I'm Shayna (she/they) and as a fellow human I recognize life moves fast, it can be a lot.  Even for young children, life may seem full of demands.  When you add in neurodivergence or other marginalized identities, it may become increasingly complex to navigate a world not designed to understand, accept or accommodate these experiences.

I can be a curious partner in navigating challenges such as overwhelm that comes with life as a highly sensitive person, parenting a demand avoidant child or navigating a gender journey (your own or someone you care for or support).  If you're feeling the burden of trying to communicate your needs to others, on the outskirts of being understood, you're not alone.  Let's work together and find a space where you might be more at ease.

I came to the field of therapy as a second career, but nothing has felt more natural than this life transition.  I left the corporate world behind after some soul searching in the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic and have felt joy, inspiration, affirmation, honor and privilege as I join people on their journey to growth, love, acceptance and cultivating self care.

I am grateful to make use of my ongoing education alongside lived experience to normalize, validate, and help others recognize they don't need to be "fixed" but can be affirmed and seen in ways they may not have been given space for in the past.  Living authentically is a possibility.  Let's seek ways to problem solve what truly isn't working for you without twisting into knots to accommodate others.

I practice from a client centered perspective, and tailor my approach to the individual.  I'm focused on offering the most supportive and affirming experience for every client, and will work on the best way to meet them where they are.  Clients I see are often seeking support with the following life experiences:

-Autism, ADHD, PDA, Highly Sensitive Person, OCD, Anxiety, etc.

-LGBTQIA+ Affirming

-Gender Affirming

-Parent, Partner and Family Support

-Perfectionism and Burnout

-School Related Issues

In my role as a therapist, I make a commitment to intentionally center, affirm and honor the widely differing experiences of Neurodivergent & LGBTQIA+ Individuals and their Families.  I recognize the diversity of all humans, and appreciate the opportunity to witness, learn from and elevate a multitude of expressions, perspectives and lived experiences differing from my own.  Beyond good intent, I will work to actively educate myself and respectfully engage, allowing space for growth and connection.
